PROGRAMME

Spoken World is a community storytelling company created to bring the power of storytelling to everyone. We work with a continuum of traditional narratives – from myths, legends and folktales through to regional, family and personal stories, often combining storytelling with other art forms. Our passion and concern for the natural world has led us to create our latest promenade giant ‘Sovereign Nature’. Her train is a commissioned textile artwork depicting our local river, to which community groups have added a textile estuary. Her robe depicts Somerset wildlife – endangered species alongside our reintroduction success stories, and her sleeves display the 4 seasons. Her promenade performances are also ambassadors for the storytelling sessions that follow, during which we share stories about our relationship with the natural world. Sovereign Nature will watch over you with her magnificent and benign presence, until you can meet her in action on the Fair Field on Sunday 2nd August in the morning followed by a talk about her at 2.30 in the Town Hall.
