Special Event

Hail and Welcome to you Sister, Brother, Sibling!

I am Joseph Atiase and I would like to introduce myself as this year’s Rainbow Pillar for Glastonbury Goddess Conference.

I identify as a Queer person; my pronouns are He/They and I am a pound member of the LGBT community. I am based in London where I am a qualified counsellor, mental health professional and Founder and Priest of Indigo Earth, www.indigoearthceremonies.com – fully inclusive and trauma informed Pagan Ceremony.

My journey has led me to exploring what spirituality can mean for the LGBT community and I bring my passion for inclusion to Glastonbury Goddess Conference in service of the Crone Goddess, Lady of the Otherworld.

In pre-colonial cultures Queer people have been seen as walkers of liminal spaces, able to embody all the energies that make up the gender spectrum and bridging the gap between this World and the Otherworld, the mundane and the Divine. All over the world from the Muxes in Zapotec culture, Bakla in pre-colonial Philippines, Hijra in South Asia and Two-Spirit people in Native American culture, LGBTQ+ identities have often been known to take a specific spiritual role in societies.

It is with this spirit that we welcome all LGBTQ+ people and allies and invite to you take part in some of the Rainbow offerings taking place over the course of the conference. We also invite you to bring any questions, concerns or challenges to me and I will do my best to support around this. I will be at registration on the first day to introduce myself. We also have a Priestess Sister who I can connect you with at conference if you would prefer to speak to a woman about LGBT issues.

Rainbow Blessing to you all and have a fantastic Goddess Conference!

Rainbow Circle – Queer Goddess Wisdom

Open to all LGBTQ+ attendees and allies of the community

To be held at the Temple of Avalon August 1st between 1pm and 2pm

For our opening circle we will be holding a space to the honour the collective wisdom held in the LGBT Community and remembering the value innate in the lived experiences of Queer Lives.

What does Goddess teach us about Queer Wisdom? How can LGBT people have a stronger voice in the Goddess Community? What can the role of LGBT people in pre-colonial societies teach us about who we are today?

These are some of the questions we might explore together. However, this space is for you, and you are invited to bring any insights, questions and concerns to add the collective conversation.

Please use this circle as a safe space to meet other LGBT attendees, take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the conference and build community.

This is a fully inclusive space any prejudice of any kind will be regarded as unacceptable.

Trans Illumination – An evening to honour Trans Lives

Open to Wider Glastonbury LGBT Community as well as Goddess Conference participants

To be held at the close of the first day (1st of August) of Glastonbury Goddess Conference at the Temple of Avalon between 9pm and 12 pm

Trans lives are under attack. Though we recognise the violent rhetoric impacting Trans and gender non-conforming people we must also recognise the beauty of Trans existence, the spiritual role of gender non-conforming people throughout history and the presence of queerness in nature and the everyday.

We will be gathering together in the name of the Dark Mother, to hold a space to celebrate and remember trans lives that have been snuffed out. With the flame of the Lamma fire, we will illuminate and bring back the light.

Bring your connections, hopes, stories, open and healing hearts, as well as food and drink to share as we hold a community space and honour Trans and Gender-nonconforming lives.

This is an LGBTQ+ focused ceremony, open to those who identify as such, as well as allies and no amount of transphobia, queerphobia or any other type of prejudice will be tolerated.

Rainbow Circle – LGBT Ancestors and Elders

Open to all LGBTQ+ attendees and allies of the community

To be held at the Temple of Avalon August 5th between 1:30pm and 2:30pm

For our second circle we will be holding a space to the honour the Queer Ancestors past, and the Elders within todays LGBTQ+ community.

How can we honour the lives of Elders in the LGBT community? How important is the visibility of LGBT Elders in the Goddess Community? How can the Goddess Community Elders lead the community in honouring the LGBT aspect of the Goddess?

These are some of the questions we might explore together. However, this space is for you, and you are invited to bring any insights, questions and concerns to add the collective conversation.

Please use this circle as a safe space to meet other LGBT attendees, take some time away from the hustle and bustle of the conference and build community.

This is a fully inclusive space any prejudice of any kind will be regarded as unacceptable.
