Fringe Workshop: Dancing at the Edge of the World

The Ohlone people indigenous to Northern California left a song fragment that has withstood the test of time. On the cliffs and beaches overlooking the Pacific Ocean, they would gather and sing: “Dancing at the edge of the world, we are dancing at the edge of the world.” The Mothers of the New Time, in honor and reverence for the sacred ways of the Ohlone people, adopted this line as part of our Full Moon prayer that we have been reciting for the last five years.  What does is mean to dance at the edge of the world? It means being prepared to leap from the cliff of presumption and let yourself fly into the unknown, to embrace a path of greatness that carries you to the farther shores of experience, and to balance wisdom and curiosity about what lies down the path of mystery in your life.

During our workshop we will offer participants opportunities to experience healing shamanic journey, sacred Goddess dance, and visionary nourishment for a life of adventure along the footpath of Goddess. We will give practical advice for remaining strong and grounded in difficult times, based on body and soul-sustaining techniques. Participants will also receive individual guidance in the workshop setting for finding, changing, or repairing the unique life force that is shared in the heart, soul, and second heart of every woman. Join us for a deep sacred circle of embodied wisdom.

Wednesday afternoon:

WORKSHOP: Love Songs Of The Goddess

In this evocative ritual experience, the Mothers of the New Time invite you to open your heart and receive healing wisdom from the well of song. Participants will be guided in a series of purification activities, rending the veils and breaking the shackles of patriarchal ways of thinking, negative self-talk, poor body and self-image, and rejection of feminine ways of knowing. After the purification, we will open sacred circle and participants will join our sisterhood in songs and ritual enactments honoring and reclaiming the wisdom of world Goddesses: Lilith, Inanna, Artemis, Brigid, the Deer Mother, Aphrodite, Freyja, Hekate, and others. For each Goddess, the group will sing love songs and make offerings, and the Goddess will bestow oracular wisdom and gifts. For this special ceremony, the Mothers of the New Time will bring sacred water from America’s own red and white springs which run side by side near beautiful Mt Shasta, California, and will combine them with waters from the red and white springs in Glastonbury as testimony to our shared commitment to the vision of The Motherworld.

The Mothers of the New TimeThe Mothers of the New Time are a tribe of Pan-Dianic High Priestesses from the United States, trained and ordained in the lineage of founder Yeshe ‘Rabbit’ Matthews. Each tribe member trains for a minimum of 5 years to qualify for ordination, and must demonstrate her leadership in public service projects. Several members of the tribe have been practicing Goddess spirituality together for 10 years or more. The tribe collectively holds a vision for a transformed world, honoring the Goddess consciousness of all beings with special emphasis on women’s well-being locally and globally. With the help of the Goddesses to whom we are dedicated, we create feminist, spiritual, and political well-being in our own lives. This well-being is the seed that blossoms into the flowers of our public rituals, writings, songs, service projects, and community initiatives.
